News Release October 2, 2009 Two Die in Franklin Parish Crash
Two men died in a single vehicle crash on LA 572 in Franklin Parish.
The crash occurred on October 1, 2009 at about 10:00 pm. A 1999 Chrysler Concord was traveling west on LA 572 when the driver lost control of the vehicle in a curve. The car ran off the left side of the road and rolled over several times. The driver and passenger were ejected from the vehicle in the crash and pronounced dead at the scene by the Franklin Parish Coroner’s Office.
Investigation of the crash revealed that the car had been driven for about five miles with a blown tire. It appears that the front left tire was gone and the car was being operated at a high rate of speed on the rim prior to the crash.
The driver has been identified as 38-year-old James Stokes from Winnsboro. The passenger has been identified as 36-year-old Jeffrey Peck from Slidell.
Impairment is suspected to be a factor in the crash and toxicology tests are pending. Neither man was wearing a seat belt.
In 2009, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers have investigated thirty-three (33) fatal crashes resulting in thirty-seven (37) deaths. Contact Information,
