News Release November 16, 2009 Woman Dies in Caldwell Parish Crash
A Caldwell Parish woman died Sunday in a Caldwell Parish crash.
On November 15, 2009 at about 5:37 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers investigated a two vehicle crash on LA 133 in Caldwell Parish. A 2001 Dodge van was traveling south on LA 133 when the driver stopped and began backing up towards a disabled vehicle on the side of the road. A passenger in the van was apparently getting out of the vehicle when it was struck from behind by a 2008 GMC truck. The passenger was struck by the vehicles as a result of the initial impact and came to rest in a ditch adjacent to the roadway.
The passenger, identified as 49-year-old Donna Pettis from Hebert, LA, was transported to Citizen's Medical Center where she later died from injuries sustained in the crash.
The driver of the van, identified as 69-year-old Marguerite Hatten from Columbia, was not injured in the crash. Hatten was issued a citation for Improper Backing.
The driver of the GMC truck, identified as 41-year-old Rhonda Williams from Columbia, was not injured in the crash. Williams was issued a citation for Careless Operation.
Both drivers were wearing their seat belts and impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash.
In 2009, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers have investigated thirty-four (34) fatal crashes resulting in thirty-eight (38) deaths. Contact Information,
