REGION 3 NEWS RELEASE August 22, 2013 On August 22, 2013, investigators with the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations arrested a prison guard employed at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center in Ruston. The arrest was a result of a joint investigation initiated by Lincoln Parish Sheriff Mike Stone on Monday August 12, 2013. Sheriff Stone contacted investigators from the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations stating that he wanted an independent agency looking into allegations of prisoner abuse by the guard that allegedly occurred at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center on Tuesday August 6, 2013. The alleged abuse involved one guard, 58-year-old Danny Henshaw of Farmerville, using excessive force on one inmate during a disturbance in the Detention Center. The inmate did not report any injuries but was examined by medical personnel at the facility as a precaution. Henshaw resigned from the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office and voluntarily turned himself in to Troopers at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center on the morning of Thursday August 22, 2013. Henshaw faces up to a $1,000 fine and 6 months in prison if convicted. The Louisiana State Police on-line reporting system is available to the public through a secure reporting form that is submitted to investigators. Citizens can access the form by visiting www.lsp.org and clicking the suspicious activity link.
