TROOP F NEWS RELEASE Unrestrained Waterproof Man Killed in Tensas Parish Crash Waterproof – This morning Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop F began investigating a fatal crash on MLK Jr. Avenue in Waterproof. The crash took the life of 54-year-old Rickie Favorite. The initial investigation by State Police revealed the crash occurred as Favorite was driving a 2007 Cadillac DTS west on MLK Jr. Avenue. For reasons unknown, the vehicle traveled off the left side of the road and struck a tree with the front center of the vehicle. Favorite, who was unrestrained, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Tensas Parish Coroner’s Office. A toxicology sample was obtained and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation. Troopers wish to remind motorists of the importance of seatbelt use. Louisiana law requires that every person in a motor vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. Statistics show that the chances of surviving a violent crash rise significantly when properly restrained. Taking the time to buckle up before every trip is the single most effective thing you can do to protect yourself in a crash. In 2019, Troop F has investigated 19 fatal crashes resulting in 24 deaths.
