TROOP F NEWS RELEASE Unrestrained Sikes Man Killed in Jackson Parish Crash Weston – Last night, just before 8:00 p.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop F began investigating a fatal crash on LA Hwy 147 just south of Weston. The crash took the life of 69-year-old Brandon Litton of Sikes. The initial investigation by State Police revealed the crash occurred as Litton was driving a 2013 Nissan Sentra south of LA Hwy 147 around a left hand curve. For reasons unknown, the vehicle traveled off the right side of the road and entered a ditch. The vehicle traveled through a ditch before striking a large tree. Litton, who was unrestrained, was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead. A toxicology sample was obtained and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation. Troopers wish to remind motorists of the importance of seatbelt use. Louisiana law requires that every person in a motor vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. Statistics show that the chances of surviving a violent crash rise significantly when properly restrained. Taking the time to buckle up before every trip is the single most effective thing you can do to protect yourself in a crash. In 2019, Troop F has investigated 20 fatal crashes resulting in 25 deaths.
