Alcohol Suspected in Franklin Parish Motorcycle Crash

Wisner – Yesterday afternoon, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop F began investigating a fatal crash on Calhoun Road near the intersection with Furr Road. This crash took the life of a Winnsboro man.

The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as a 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by 43-year-old Wesley J. Meadows of Winnsboro, was traveling north on Calhoun Road. For reasons still under investigation, the motorcycle traveled off the road and struck a ditch embankment.

Meadows was pronounced dead at the scene by the Franklin Parish Coroner’s Office.

A toxicology sample was obtained and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

Troopers wish to remind motorists that impaired driving continues to be a major problem throughout Louisiana. Whether impaired through alcohol, drugs, or a combination of the two, the consequences of driving while impaired remain the same. Prior to putting alcohol into your body, ensure that you have a plan in place in order to get home safely.

In 2019, Troop F has investigated 17 fatal crashes resulting in 22 deaths.
