Single-Vehicle Crash Leads to Death of Monroe Man

Ouachita Parish – Around 10:45 p.m. last night, Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a single-vehicle crash on LA 838 in Ouachita Parish.

The preliminary investigation revealed a 2002 Lincoln Town Car, driven by 33-year-old Gary Tyler of Monroe, was traveling west on LA 838 around a slight curve. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle traveled off the right side of the road and struck a large tree stump. After impact with the stump, the Lincoln began to rollover, struck a large tree, and became engulfed in flames.

Tyler, who was properly restrained, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ouachita Parish Coroner’s Office.

A toxicology sample was obtained and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

In 2018, Troop F has investigated 18 fatal crashes resulting in 21 deaths.
