| TROOP F NEWS RELEASE August 30, 2018 Winnsboro Woman Killed in Franklin Parish Crash Franklin Parish – On August 30, 2018, at approximately 6:35 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of LA Hwy 4 and LA Hwy 865, near the city of Winnsboro. The preliminary investigation revealed a 2009 Mack garbage truck, driven by 40-year-old Tina Vaughn of Monroe, was traveling south on Brownell Road. For reasons still under investigation, Vaughn pulled onto LA Hwy 4 and struck a 2002 Ford pickup in the driver’s side door that was driven by 42-year-old Labraca Roberts of Winnsboro. Roberts was pronounced dead at the scene by the Franklin Parish Coroner’s Office. A toxicology sample was obtained from Roberts and will be submitted for analysis. Alcohol on the part of Vaughn was not a factor. While not all crashes are survivable, seat belts can greatly decrease the occupant’s chance of death and will greatly reduce the extent of injury. In 2018, Troop F has investigated 24 fatal crashes resulting in 28 deaths. | |||
