TROOP F NEWS RELEASE March 12, 2018 Head-On Crash Claims Life of Gilbert Woman Gilbert -- A Gilbert woman died earlier today after the vehicle she was driving was struck head-on. Shortly before 3:00 p.m. this afternoon, Troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 128 just east of US Hwy 425. The initial investigation by State Police revealed 25-year-old Taylor Temple of Winnsboro was driving a 2011 Ford F150 west on LA 128. For reasons still under investigation, the Ford traveled into the eastbound lane of LA 128 and struck a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 33-year-old Danelle McNease of Gilbert. McNease, who was properly restrained, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Franklin Parish Coroner’s Office. Temple, who was unrestrained, was transported to a local hospital with injuries. Routine toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. Troopers wish to remind motorists of the importance of seat belt use. Louisiana law requires that every person in a motor vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. Statistics show that the chances of surviving a violent crash rise significantly when properly restrained. Taking the time to buckle up before every trip is the single most effective thing you can do to protect yourself in a crash. In 2018, Troop F has investigated 9 fatal crashes resulting in 11 deaths.
