TROOP F NEWS RELEASE April 9, 2018 Motorcyclist Killed in Caldwell Parish Crash Vixen, LA– Earlier today, a single vehicle motorcycle crash killed a man from Calhoun. Shortly before 2:00 p.m., Troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a single vehicle crash on LA 4 near the Caldwell/Jackson Parish line. The preliminary investigation revealed a 2002 Harley Davidson, driven by 64-year-old William Collins Jr. of Calhoun, LA, was traveling east on LA 4. Upon entering a slight right hand curve, the motorcycle traveled off the road and into a ditch. Collins, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected. Collins was pronounced dead at the scene by the Caldwell Parish Coroner’s Office. Routine toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted for analysis. Alcohol is not a suspected factor in this crash. The crash remains under investigation. In 2018, Troop F has investigated 12 fatal crashes resulting in 15 deaths.
