TROOP F NEWS RELEASE Pedestrian Killed in Ouachita Parish Crash Monroe -- Shortly after 6:00 p.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop F began investigating a pedestrian fatal crash on US Hwy 165. This crash occurred just north of the intersection of Dellwood Dr. in south Monroe. The crash took the life of 38-year-old Gloria Anderson of Monroe. The preliminary investigation revealed Anderson was attempting to cross US Hwy 165. At the same time, 37-year-old Robert Loyd of Monroe was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe southbound on US Hwy 165. Anderson, who was wearing dark colored clothing, crossed US Hwy 165 directly in the path of the Tahoe and was struck. Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ouachita Parish Coroner’s Office. A toxicology sample was obtained from Anderson and will be submitted for analysis. Alcohol on the part of Loyd was not a factor. Pedestrians and motorists alike are urged to remain vigilant while on area roadways and pay close attention to their surroundings. Crashes involving pedestrians can often be avoided by following some basic safety guidelines. Pedestrians should wear light-colored or reflective clothing and should always avoid walking on the roadway in dark areas. Pedestrians must also assume that approaching motorists cannot see them, especially at night. In 2019, Troop F has investigated 2 fatal crashes resulting in 2 deaths. Contact Information: | |||
