The crash claimed the life of a man from Ruston. The initial investigation revealed a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by 23-year-old Shannon Frasier, was traveling northbound on U.S. Hwy 167. For reasons still under investigation, the Jeep rear-ended a 2013 Western Star 18-wheeler that was slowing to make a left turn. After impact, the Jeep traveled off the road into the ditch. Frasier, who was properly restrained, was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. A toxicology sample was obtained and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. Although the investigation remains ongoing and the exact cause of this crash is still under investigation, Troopers urge motorists to avoid all distractions while driving. Distractions, such as cell phones, passengers, radios, etc., take a driver’s focus away from the road. Troopers remind motorists to make good decisions behind the wheel; buckle up each and every ride, drive sober and place your full attention on the road and other motorists.
