Rollover Crash Kills Unrestrained Jonesboro Man

Jonesboro – On Sunday, July 26, 2020, shortly before 10:00 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a crash on Louisiana Highway 4 just west of Jonesboro in Jackson Parish. The crash claimed the life of a Jonesboro man.

The initial investigation revealed a 2001 Ford F-150, driven by 49-year-old Carlos Scott of Jonesboro, was traveling west on LA 4. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle traveled off the right side of the road, struck a culvert and overturned several times.

Scott, who was unrestrained, was ejected from the vehicle onto the roadway. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A toxicology sample was obtained from Scott for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana state law requires vehicle occupants to be properly restrained in all seating positions, day or night. While all crashes are not survivable, the three seconds it takes to put on a seat belt can be the difference between life and death in the event of a crash.

In 2020, Troop F has investigated 30 fatal crashes resulting in 31 deaths.
