Unrestrained Driver Killed in Union Parish Crash

Farmerville – Early this morning, shortly before 2:15 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a single-vehicle fatal crash on LA Hwy 33 south of Farmerville. This crash claimed the life of a woman from Arcadia.

The initial investigation revealed a 2001 Mitsubishi Galant, driven by 33-year-old Christian Kinsey, was traveling north on LA Hwy 33. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle traveled off the right side of the road and struck a ditch embankment. After striking the ditch, the vehicle became airborne and then struck a tree.

Kinsey, who was unrestrained, was partially ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. Toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted for analysis.

Buckling up is the most effective way to protect yourself during a vehicle crash. Failure to take a few seconds to buckle up can have devastating consequences. Louisiana law requires every person in a vehicle, regardless of seating position, to be properly restrained day or night.

The crash remains under investigation.

In 2021, Troop F has investigated 12 fatal crashes resulting in 15 deaths.
