TROOP F NEWS RELEASE Unrestrained Driver Killed in Lincoln Parish Crash Simsboro – Early this morning, shortly after 2:40 a.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop F began investigating a crash on Interstate 20, west of the Simsboro Exit. This crash claimed the life of a man from Grambling, who was not wearing a seat belt. The initial investigation revealed that 28-year-old Clinton Maiden had parked his 2010 Chevrolet Malibu, on the eastbound shoulder, of Interstate 20. For reasons currently unknown, Maiden backed his vehicle into the outside lane and was struck by a 2020 Dodge Ram. After impact, the Malibu came to rest on the shoulder and the Ram came to rest in the median. Maiden was pronounced dead, at the scene, by the Lincoln Parish Coroner’s Office. The driver of the Ram, who was restrained, was not injured. Toxicology samples were obtained and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation. Buckling up is the most effective way to protect yourself during a vehicle crash. Failure to take a few seconds to buckle up can have devastating consequences. Louisiana law requires every person in a vehicle, regardless of seating position, to be properly restrained day or night. | |||
