West Monroe Woman Killed in Ouachita Parish Crash

On December 23, 2014, at 07:36 a.m., Troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 143 at New Wall Lake Road that claimed the life of a West Monroe woman.

The preliminary investigation revealed a 2007 Nissan Versa, driven by 30-year-old Jennifer Hale of West Monroe, LA, was traveling north on LA 143 and had just exited a slight curve. For unknown reasons the Versa began to rotate and entered the south bound lane where it struck a 2014 Dodge Challenger, driven by 51-year-old Patricia Dupree of Marion, LA. After striking the Challenger, the Versa came to rest in a ditch. Hale was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. Proper seatbelt use at this time is unknown. Dupree was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries.

Alcohol use is not suspected but a toxicology sample was obtained and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana law requires vehicle occupants to be restrained in all seating positions, day and night. While every crash is not survivable, wearing a seatbelt is the single most effective thing motorists can do to protect themselves in the event of a crash.
