TROOP A NEWS RELEASE September 15, 2018 Unrestrained Driver Killed in Livingston Parish Crash Livingston Parish – Shortly after 10:00 am on September 15, 2018, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single vehicle crash that resulted in a fatality on LA Hwy 63 north of US Hwy 190 in Livingston Parish. The crash took the life of 26-year-old Max A. Mclin of Livingston. The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Mclin was driving a 1997 Ford F-150 northbound on LA Hwy 63. For unknown reasons, as Mclin entered a left hand curve his vehicle ran off the road to the left. After leaving the roadway, the vehicle traveled down an embankment and struck several trees. Mclin was unrestrained at the time of the crash and sustained fatal injuries as a result. Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in this crash, but a toxicology sample was taken from Mclin to be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. This crash remains under investigation. Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists that all occupants in a vehicle must be restrained, regardless of seating position. While not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that the chances of surviving a crash rise significantly when properly restrained. Making good choices while in motor vehicles such as never driving while impaired, always ensuring every occupant is properly restrained, and avoiding all distractions can often mean the difference between life and death.
