TROOP F NEWS RELEASE January 01, 2015 New Year’s Day Crash Claims the Life of a Delhi Man On January 01, 2015, at 3:08 p.m., Troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a crash involving two vehicles. The crash occurred on Louisiana Highway 17 approximately four miles south of Delhi, in Franklin Parish that claimed the life of a Delhi man. The preliminary investigation revealed a 2006 Chevrolet pickup driven by a 16-year-old male from Winnsboro, was traveling south on LA Hwy 17 when it crossed the center line into the northbound lane. After crossing the center line, the Chevrolet pickup struck a 2012 Ford Focus driven by 47-year-old Drue Randolph of Delhi. After impact, both vehicles exited the roadway and came to rest in a ditch. Randolph, who was restrained, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Franklin Parish Coroner. The 16-year-old driver was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries. Alcohol use is not suspected but a toxicology sample was obtained and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. While the cause of this crash remains under investigation, inattentive and distracted driving contribute to a significant number of crashes in our state.
