TROOP F NEWS RELEASE February 10, 2015 Farmerville Woman Killed in Union Parish Crash On February 10, 2015, at 07:58 a.m., Troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 2 in Union Parish, approximately 5 miles east of Farmerville that claimed the life of a Farmerville woman. The preliminary investigation revealed a 2006 Buick Lucerne, driven by 80-year-old Martha Reichert of Choudrant, LA was traveling east on LA 2. For unknown reasons the Buick crossed the center line and struck a 2003 Toyota Avalon, driven by 59-year-old Sherry Acree of Farmerville, LA head-on. Although both drivers were properly restrained, Acree was pronounced dead at the scene by the Union Parish Coroner. Reichert was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. Impairment at this time is unknown. A toxicology sample was obtained and will be submitted for analysis. While the cause of this crash remains under investigation, distracted and inattentive driving continue to be leading causes of crashes in our state.
