TROOP F NEWS RELEASE August 28, 2014
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2012 GMC Acadia, driven by 74-year-old Patricia Holloway of Downsville, was traveling north on Louisiana Highway 33 when it lost control, crossed the centerline and drove off the left side of the road. The GMC then traveled into a ditch and struck a tree. Holloway was wearing her seat belt and suffered serious injuries. Holloway was transported to a hospital in Shreveport where she died. Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash. A toxicology sample was taken and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. While the cause of this crash remains under investigation, Troopers remind drivers that distractions inside or outside of the vehicle remain factors in crashes. Distracted driving is any activity which diverts a driver’s attention away from the primary task of driving. Distractions include texting, eating or drinking, talking to passengers or even using a navigation system. By reducing distractions drivers can reduce the risk of being involved in a crash. Troop F has investigated 23 fatal crashes which have resulted in 23 deaths so far this year.
