TROOP F NEWS RELEASE October 21, 2014, 2014 Unrestrained Driver Dies in Ouachita Parish Crash On October 21, 2014, at 11:35 a.m., Troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a single vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 143 that claimed the life of a Monroe man. The preliminary investigation revealed a 2006 Ford Fusion, driven by 32-year-old Jason Jones of Monroe, was traveling north on LA 143. Upon exiting a left hand curve, the vehicle ran off the roadway to the right. The driver overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle crossed both lanes, traveled into a ditch and flipped. Jones who was not wearing a seatbelt was totally ejected. Jones was transported to Glenwood Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Investigating Troopers observed that both front seatbelts were buckled to keep the warning bells from activating. There were no other occupants. Toxicology samples were taken and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. While the cause of the crash remains under investigation, Troopers urge the public to remain vigilant while driving. Never drive a motor vehicle when impaired or fatigued. Always remain buckled up while in the vehicle, regardless of seating position. Contact Information: | |||
