Unrestrained Baton Rouge Man Killed in Ascension Parish Crash

Donaldsonville – Shortly after midnight on October 3, 2018, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single vehicle crash that resulted in a fatality on LA Hwy 18 north of LA Hwy 3120 in Ascension Parish. The crash took the life of 27-year-old Donald Singleton of Baton Rouge.

The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Singleton was driving a 2012 Nissan Altima northbound on LA Hwy 18. For reasons still under investigation, Singleton lost control of his vehicle and ran off the roadway to the right. Singleton’s vehicle traveled through a ditch and struck an embankment.

Singleton was unrestrained at the time of the crash and sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Ascension Parish Coroner’s Office. It is unknown if impairment was a factor in this crash, but a toxicology sample was taken from Singleton for analysis.
