TROOP F NEWS RELEASE March 18, 2015 Wisner Man Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash Involving 18-Wheeler Franklin Parish – A Wisner man lost his life today after the vehicle he was driving was struck by an 18-wheeler. Shortly before 4:30 p.m. on March 18, 2015, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop F began investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred on US 425 approximately 2 miles north of the city of Wisner. This crash took the life of 61-year-old Alex Brown Jr. of Wisner, LA. The initial investigation by State Police revealed Alex Brown Jr. was driving a 2000 Chevrolet pickup north on US Highway 425. A 2006 Freightliner 18-wheeler, driven by 71-year-old David Minor of Natchez, MS was traveling south on US Hwy 425. When for unknown reasons, the 18-wheeler crossed the median and struck the vehicle Brown was driving. Brown was restrained, but sustained fatal injuries due to the severity of the crash and was pronounced dead on scene by the Franklin Parish Coroner’s Office. Minor was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. A toxicology sample was obtained from each of the drivers and will be submitted for analysis. Minor was cited for careless operation. This crash remains under investigation. While the cause of this crash remains under investigation, distracted and inattentive driving continue to be leading causes of crashes in our state.
