TROOP F NEWS RELEASE May 8, 2015 Double Fatality Crash in Madison Parish Madison Parish – Early this morning a head-on crash in Madison Parish claimed the lives of two men. At 12:25 a.m. on May 8, 2015, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a three-vehicle fatal crash that occurred on US Hwy 65 approximately 5 miles north of the town of Tallulah. The initial investigation by State Police revealed a 2010 Ford Escape, driven by 60-year-old Wayne Kearns of Dothan, Alabama, was traveling south on US Hwy 65. For unknown reasons the vehicle Kearns was driving crossed center line and struck a northbound 1999 GMC Sierra, driven by 61-year-old Charles Peeler of Lake Providence, LA. Shortly after the initial crash a 2015 Chevrolet Suburban, driven by 58-year-old Karen Teamer of Lake Providence, struck the GMC and had minor damage to her vehicle. Kearns and Peeler were pronounced dead at the scene by the Madison Parish coroner. Teamer was not injured. A toxicology sample was obtained from Kearns and Peeler and will be submitted for analysis. While the cause of this crash remains under investigation, distracted and inattentive driving continue to be leading causes of crashes in our state. Information on distracted driving may be found online at www.distrtaction.gov. In 2015, Troop F has investigated 16 fatal crashes resulting in 17 deaths.
