Unrestrained Delhi Woman Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash

Franklin Parish – A Delhi woman lost her life today after the vehicle she was driving struck a culvert and overturned.

Shortly after 7:20 a.m. on March 28, 2015, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop F began investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash that occurred on W.P.A. Road approximately 0.3 miles north of Louisiana Highway 132. This crash took the life of 52-year-old Teresa Wrather of Delhi, LA.

The initial investigation by State Police revealed Teresa Wrather was driving a 2000 Mercury Sable north on W.P.A. Road. For unknown reasons, the vehicle traveled off the road and struck a concrete culvert. After striking the culvert, the vehicle began to overturn, at which time Wrather was partially ejected.

Wrather was unrestrained and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Franklin Parish Coroner’s Office.

A toxicology sample was obtained and will be submitted for analysis.

Louisiana law requires vehicle occupants to be restrained in all seating positions, day and night. While every crash is not survivable, wearing a seatbelt is the single most effective thing motorists can do to protect themselves in the event of a crash.

In 2015, Troop F has investigated 12 fatal crashes resulting in 12 deaths.
