TROOP A NEWS RELEASE Motorcyclist Dies After Third Fatal Livingston Parish Crash in Two Days Denham Springs– Shortly before 6:00 pm on October 12, 2018, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle on LA 1032 at LA 1033 in Livingston Parish. The crash took the life of 25-year-old Jasper Bassmier of Waveland, MS. The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Bassmier was traveling southbound on LA 1032 on a 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle. At the same time, 51-year-old Sharon Boone of Baton Rouge was traveling northbound on LA 1032 in a 2007 Ford Focus. For reasons still under investigation, Bassmier failed to negotiate a left hand curve and crossed the center line into the northbound lane. Bassmier’s motorcycle struck Boone’s vehicle head-on in the northbound lane. Bassmier sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Livingston Parish Coroner’s Office. Boone was properly restrained and sustained minor injuries. Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in this crash, but a toxicology sample was taken from both drivers for analysis.
