Unrestrained Minor Seriously Injured in Lincoln Parish CrashOn October 25, 2013, at 7:00 p.m., Troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a single vehicle serious injury crash on Works Road west of Louisiana Highway 818.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 1995 Ford Explorer was traveling west on Works Road when it drove off the right side of the road then traveled back onto the road before rotating clockwise and overturning several times.
The 16-year-old driver was not restrained and was ejected. The driver suffered serious injuries and was transported to a hospital in Shreveport. The 16-year-old passenger was properly restrained and was transported to a hospital in Ruston with minor injuries.
Impairment use is unknown. A toxicology sample was obtained and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
While not all crashes are survivable, wearing a seat belt is the single most effective thing motorists can do to protect themselves from injury or death in the event of a crash. Louisiana state law requires vehicle occupants in all seating positions to be properly restrained.
