TROOP F NEWS RELEASE
November 9, 2013
Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Jackson Parish
On November 9, 2013, at 9:46 a.m., Troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a single vehicle fatal crash on Lakeshore Drive south of Louisiana Highway 4 in Jackson Parish.

The preliminary investigation revealed that 2013 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, driven by 42-year-old Daniel Tully of Ruston, was traveling south on Lakeshore Drive when it drove off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole.

Tully suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jackson Parish Coroner’s Office. Tully was wearing a non US D.O.T. approved helmet.

Alcohol use is not suspected. A toxicology sample was taken and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.

Motorcyclists must wear a proper US D.O.T. helmet when operating their motorcycle on Louisiana roadways. Although not all crashes are survivable, properly utilizing safety equipment like approved motorcycle helmets and seatbelts decrease your risk of serious injury or death.

Motorcycle awareness license plates are available through the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles. Please visit their website at
www.expresslane.org for more information. Funds generated from the purchase of the plates will be used by the Motorcycle Awareness Campaign to increase awareness and promote/support training and education efforts for motorcyclists.

Troop F has investigated 37 fatal crashes which have resulted in 42 deaths so far this year.
