TROOP F NEWS RELEASE
November 11, 2013
Serious Injury Crash in Lincoln Parish
On November 11, 2013, at 10:20 a.m., Troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a single vehicle serious injury crash on Interstate 20 about seven miles west of Ruston.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2008 Honda Accord, driven by 23-year-old Kaitlin Boyett of Jonesboro, was traveling east on Interstate 20 when it lost control, drove into the median while rotating clockwise and struck a tree on the passenger side. A witness described the right rear tire as having a “blow out” prior to the Honda losing control.

Boyett was not wearing her seat belt. Boyett suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash and was taken to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport.

Alcohol use is not suspected. A toxicology sample was taken and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.

While not all crashes are survivable, wearing a seat belt is the single most effective thing motorists can do to protect themselves from injury or death in the event of a crash. Louisiana state law requires vehicle occupants in all seating positions to be properly restrained.
