Four Year Old Pedestrian Killed In Ouachita Parish
On July 8, 2014, at 9:42 p.m., Troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a single vehicle fatal crash involving a pedestrian on U.S. Highway 165 south of Interstate 20.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer, driven by 45-year-old Marvin Jones of Monroe, was traveling north on U.S. Highway 165 when it struck a 4-year-old girl that had walked into the intersection at Ticheli Road.

Jones was wearing his seat belt and did not report any injuries. The four-year-old girl suffered serious injuries and was transported to St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe where she died.

Impairment is suspected to be a factor in the crash. A toxicology sample was taken and submitted for analysis. Jones was arrested for DWI and booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center. The crash remains under investigation.

Impaired driving continues to be a significant problem on Louisiana roadways. To report impaired drivers, motorists are encouraged to dial *LSP (*577) from their cellular phone or to contact their local law enforcement agency.

Troop F has investigated 18 fatal crashes which have resulted in 18 deaths so far this year.
