TROOP F NEWS RELEASE June 26, 2014
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2003 Dodge Ram truck, driven by 55-year-old Paul Crocker, was traveling west on U.S. Highway 80 when for unknown reasons it drove off the right side of the road, struck a concrete culvert, and began to roll. The Dodge continued rolling until it came to rest in a ditch upside down. Crocker was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected from the Dodge. Crocker suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene by the Ouachita Parish Coroner’s Office. Impairment on the part of Crocker is unknown. A toxicology sample was taken and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. While the cause of this crash is still unknown, Troopers would like to take this time to remind motorists that the consequences of impaired driving whether alcohol or drugs can be serious. Have a plan and designate a sober driver before you decide to drive impaired. Louisiana law requires that every person in a motor vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. While not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that the chances of surviving a violent crash rise significantly when properly restrained. Troop F has investigated 14 fatal crashes which have resulted in 14 deaths so far this year.
