REGION 3 NEWS RELEASE March 27, 2014 Richland Parish Deputy Arrested For Sexual Battery and Malfeasance On the morning of March 27, 2014, Richland Parish Sheriff Lee Harrell received information that a Richland Parish Sheriff’s deputy, 39-year-old Dewey Allen of Rayville, was having unwanted sexual contact with a female. Sheriff Harrell requested the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations investigate the matter. During questioning Allen confessed to investigators that he committed the battery while in his patrol unit and to making numerous sexual advances to the female. Allen was charged with sexual battery and malfeasance in office and booked into the Richland Parish Jail. Allen’s bond is set at $40,000. Allen was terminated from the Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office. The investigation is ongoing. Allen faces up to 15 years in prison and a $5,000 fine if convicted.
