Head On Crash Kills One Driver In Ouachita Parish

On July 12, 2014, at 9:58 a.m., Troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a two vehicle fatal crash on Louisiana Highway 34 south of Interstate 20 that left an Eros woman dead.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2013 Toyota Camry, driven by 79-year-old Anne Jarmon of West Monroe, was traveling east on Louisiana Highway 34 when it attempted to pass another vehicle traveling east. The Camry was unable to reenter its travel lane before striking a 2008 Toyota Yaris, driven by 63-year-old Margaret McDonald of Eros, that was traveling west on Louisiana Highway 34 head on.

Jarmon was wearing her seat belt, suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash and was taken to a hospital in Shreveport. McDonald was wearing her seat belt, suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene by the Ouachita Parish Coroner’s Office.

Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash. Toxicology samples were taken and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.

Troopers would like to take this opportunity to urge motorists to use caution when passing another vehicle. It is important to ensure there is enough room to pass safely. Obey the speed limit, always buckle up and never drive impaired.

Troop F has investigated 20 fatal crashes which have resulted in 20 deaths so far this year.
