TROOP F NEWS RELEASE May 5, 2014
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2001 Ford truck, driven by 77-year-old Isaac McClanahan of Columbia, was traveling north on Louisiana Highway 133 when for unknown reasons it traveled off the right side of the road while in a curve. The Ford then struck a culvert before coming to a stop. McClanahan was not wearing his seat belt. McClanahan suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene by the Caldwell Parish Coroner’s Office. Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in this crash. A toxicology sample was taken and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. Seat belts greatly enhance your chances of surviving a motor vehicle crash. Seat belts prevent ejection from vehicles and Louisiana law requires the use of seat belts in every seating position. Please make good decisions behind the wheel; buckle up each and every ride, drive sober and place your full attention on the road and other motorists. Troop F has investigated 11 fatal crashes which have resulted in 11 deaths so far this year.
