TROOP F NEWS RELEASE December 23, 2016 Motorcyclist Killed in Union Parish Crash Farmerville, LA– Yesterday, a single vehicle crash killed a man from West Monroe, LA. Shortly after 6:10 p.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2016, Troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a single vehicle crash on LA 552 approximately 3 miles east of LA 15. The preliminary investigation revealed a 2009 Harley Davidson, driven by 56-year-old Billy Townsend of West Monroe, LA, was traveling east on LA 552. For unknown reasons, the motorcycle traveled off the right side of the road and struck a tree. Townsend, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected. Townsend was pronounced dead at the scene by the Union Parish Coroner’s Office. Routine toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. In 2016, Troop F has investigated 36 fatal crashes resulting in 37 deaths.
