TROOP F NEWS RELEASE Unrestrained Monroe Man Dies in Rollover Crash OUACHITA PARISH — A Monroe man is dead following a single-vehicle crash in Ouachita Parish last night. On December 14, 2017, at 8:00 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a single-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 841 1.7 miles south of Louisiana Highway 15 in Ouachita Parish. The preliminary investigation revealed a 1999 Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling south on LA 841 when the driver, 45-year-old Jesse Wayne Williams of Monroe, passed another vehicle before traveling off the road into a ditch. As Williams attempted to steer back onto the roadway, his truck rotated and overturned. Williams, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the pickup truck and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ouachita Parish Coroner’s Office. A toxicology sample was obtained from Williams and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. Pickup trucks are more prone to rollover due to a higher center of gravity yet drivers of pickups are less likely to wear a seat belt than other drivers. Wearing a seat belt is the single most effective thing motorists can do to protect themselves in the event of a crash. Vehicle occupants are encouraged to make the smart choice and to always wear a seat belt in all seating positions, day or night. In 2017, Troop F has investigated 34 fatal crashes resulting in 35 deaths. Contact Information: | |||
