Unrestrained Fordoche Man Dies in Pointe Coupee Parish Crash

Livonia – Shortly before 10:00 am on November 4, 2018, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single vehicle fatality crash on LA 77 north of US 190 in Pointe Coupee Parish. The crash took the life of 55-year-old James Pizzolato of Fordoche.

The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Pizzolato was traveling northbound on LA 77 in a 2003 Buick LeSabre. For reason still under investigation, Pizzolato lost control of his vehicle in a curve and ran off the right side of the roadway. Pizzolato’s vehicle struck on concrete block and began to overturn.

Pizzolato was unrestrained and sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Pointe Coupee Parish Coroner’s Office. It is unknown if impairment was a factor in this crash, but a toxicology sample will be taken from Pizzolato for analysis.
