Pedestrian Dies in Lincoln Parish Crash

**UPDATE** – 69-year-old James Knox of Riverside, CA was the individual struck and killed by a vehicle as he was walking on Interstate 20. Notification has been made to members of his family.

Grambling – A man who was walking on Interstate 20 was killed yesterday after being struck by a vehicle.

Shortly after 6:35 p.m. on Friday, November 10, 2017, Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a crash on Interstate 20 approximately 2 miles west of Grambling. The preliminary investigation revealed a 2000 Ford Explorer, driven by 39-year-old Roberta Williams of Grambling, was traveling east on I-20 when her vehicle struck a pedestrian that was walking in the roadway. A 2012 Buick Enclave, driven by 34-year-old Elizabeth Archer, was directly behind the Explorer at the time of the crash and struck the vehicle in the rear after it impacted the pedestrian.

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Williams, the driver of the Explorer, was not injured during the crash but was arrested for driving while intoxicated and transported to Lincoln Parish Detention Center.

A toxicology sample was obtained from the pedestrian and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.

The identification of the pedestrian is being withheld due to notification of next of kin.

In 2017, Troop F has investigated 30 fatal crashes resulting in 31 deaths.
