Secretary of State Employee Arrested for Possession of Child Pornography


Farmerville– A former employee of the Office of the Louisiana Secretary of State was arrested yesterday after investigators located child pornography on his state issued computer.

Earlier this month, the Louisiana State Police Special Victims Unit was contacted by the Office of the Louisiana Secretary of State in reference to suspicious activity on a state issue computer. The Louisiana State Police SVU initiated an investigation into this individual who possessed images of pornography involving juveniles in the Farmerville area. On June 22, 2017, State Police Detectives executed an arrest warrant and placed the individual in jail.

As a result of the investigation, 79-year-old Bruce Barron of Farmerville was arrested and charged with one count of possession of pornography involving juveniles and was booked at Union Parish Correctional Center. Bond was set at $25,000.00.

This is an on-going investigation and further charges are pending.

The Louisiana State Police Special Victims Unit works to rescue and seek justice for the victims of crimes involving the exploitation of children and the trafficking of humans for sex or labor through investigative partnerships with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, and through public education.
