TROOP F NEWS RELEASE September 9, 2017 Two People Die in Separate Crashes in Madison Parish Two people are dead following separate crashes in Madison Parish last night. Tallulah– Shortly before 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 8, 2017, Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a three-vehicle crash on US Highway 80 just west of Tallulah. The preliminary investigation revealed a 2000 Ford Crown Victoria, driven by 25-year-old Tyrone Jackson of Tallulah, was traveling west on US Hwy 80 behind a 2008 Nissan pickup. The Crown Victoria began to pass the Nissan Pickup which was driven by 46-year-old Craig Warren of Katy, TX. The Crown Victoria then struck an eastbound 2000 Freightliner driven by 64-year-old Jimmie Dixon of Tallulah. After being struck head-on, the Freightliner crossed the center line and struck the driver’s side door of the Nissan. Although Warren was properly restrained, he was pronounced dead at the scene by the Madison Parish Coroner’s Office. Jackson was injured during the crash and taken to a local hospital for injuries. Dixon was not injured during the crash. Toxicology samples were obtained from the drivers and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. Waverly– Shortly before 2:40 a.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2017, Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a single-vehicle crash on LA Highway 577 just north of Waverly. The preliminary investigation revealed a 2015 Lincoln MKZ, driven by 50-year-old Jenni Mobley of Winnsboro, was traveling south on LA Hwy 577 around a left hand curve at a high rate of speed. The vehicle traveled off the roadway to the left, traveled down a deep embankment and struck a large tree. Despite wearing her seat belt, Mobley was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene by the Madison Parish Coroner’s Office. Excessive speed is suspected to be a factor in the crash. A toxicology sample was obtained and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. | |||
