TROOP F NEWS RELEASE October 12, 2017 Head-On Crash Claims the Life of Eros Woman West Monroe – A woman is dead after the vehicle she was driving crossed the center line and struck another vehicle head-on. Shortly before 8:10 a.m. this morning, Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 557 approximately 3 miles south of Louisiana Highway 34. The preliminary investigation revealed a 2013 Dodge pickup, driven by 21-year-old Chelsa Massey of Eros, was traveling south on LA 557 when the vehicle she was driving crossed the center line and collided with a northbound 2006 Ford F250, driven by 43-year-old Jimmy Masters of West Monroe. Massey, who was properly restrained, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ouachita Parish Coroner’s Office. Masters, who was also properly restrained, was taken to a local hospital with injuries. A six-month-old child, who was restrained in the Dodge, was not injured in the crash. Toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. In 2017, Troop F has investigated 26 fatal crashes resulting in 27 deaths.
