TROOP F NEWS RELEASE November 25, 2016 Spearsville Man Dies in Union Parish Crash Spearsville, LA—A man lost his life this afternoon after the vehicle he was driving traveled through an intersection, off the road, and struck a tree. Shortly before 12:30 p.m. on November 25, 2016, Troopers, assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop F, responded to a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of Ervin Road and James Williams Road, approximately 1 mile north of Louisiana Highway 558. This crash took the life of 78-year-old Paskal Taylor of Spearsville, LA. The initial investigation revealed Taylor was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche east on Ervin Road and traveled straight through the intersection. For unknown reasons, the vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a large tree. Taylor, who was properly restrained, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Union Parish Coroner’s Office. Routine toxicology sample was obtained and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. In 2016, Troop F has investigated 33 fatal crashes resulting in 34 deaths.
