TROOP F NEWS RELEASE January 22, 2016 Downsville Man Dies in Ouachita Parish Crash Monroe, LA—A man lost his life this afternoon after traveling off the road and striking a tree. Shortly before 5:00 p.m. on January 22, 2016, Troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 20 just west of the Millhaven exit. This crash took the life of 61-year-old Benjamin Taylor of Downsville, LA. The initial investigation by State Police revealed Taylor was driving a 2009 Chevrolet pickup truck west on I-20. For unknown reasons, the vehicle traveled off the road and struck a tree. Taylor, who was properly restrained, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ouachita Parish Coroner’s Office. A toxicology sample was obtained and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. In 2016, Troop F has investigated 2 fatal crashes resulting in 2 deaths.
