TROOP F NEWS RELEASE October 30, 2015 Thirteen Year Old Passenger Killed Yesterday Evening in Ouachita Parish Crash Monroe, LA – A teenager from Monroe died yesterday after the vehicle she was a passenger in failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck by another vehicle. Shortly before 7:45 p.m., on October 29, 2015, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a two-vehicle fatality crash that occurred on US Highway 165 Business at the intersection of Buckhorn Bend Road just south of Monroe. The preliminary investigation revealed a 2013 Toyota SUV, driven by 47-year-old Florence Nash of Monroe, LA, was traveling east on Buckhorn Bend Road. A 2003 Ford pickup, driven by 53-year-old Becky Lee of West Monroe, was traveling north on US Hwy 165-B. For unknown reasons, Nash failed to stop at the intersection and was struck by the 2003 Ford pickup. Nash and several passengers were taken to local hospitals for injuries. Although all passengers of the Toyota were properly restrained, 13-year-old Cassy Nash of Monroe, LA, died from her injuries while at the hospital. Lee, who was properly restrained, was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries. A toxicology sample was obtained and submitted for analysis. This crash is still under investigation. In 2015, Troop F has investigated 43 fatal crashes resulting in 47 deaths.
