Teenager Dies in Ouachita Parish Crash

West Monroe, LA—A teenager lost his life last night after the vehicle he was driving traveled off the road and struck a tree.

Shortly after 11:30 p.m. on October 8, 2016, Troopers, assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop F, responded to a single-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 546, approximately 5 miles south of Interstate 20. This crash took the life of 17-year-old Nicholas Bush of Monroe, LA.

The initial investigation by State Police revealed Bush was driving a 2005 Dodge pickup truck north on LA 546. As the vehicle was traveling around a right hand curve, the driver failed to negotiate the curve and ran off the left side of the road and struck a tree. Bush, who was properly restrained, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ouachita Parish Coroner’s Office.

A toxicology sample was obtained and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.

In 2016, Troop F has investigated 31 fatal crashes resulting in 32 deaths.
