TROOP F NEWS RELEASE October 9, 2016 Teenager Dies in Ouachita Parish Crash West Monroe, LA—A teenager lost his life last night after the vehicle he was driving traveled off the road and struck a tree. Shortly after 11:30 p.m. on October 8, 2016, Troopers, assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop F, responded to a single-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 546, approximately 5 miles south of Interstate 20. This crash took the life of 17-year-old Nicholas Bush of Monroe, LA. The initial investigation by State Police revealed Bush was driving a 2005 Dodge pickup truck north on LA 546. As the vehicle was traveling around a right hand curve, the driver failed to negotiate the curve and ran off the left side of the road and struck a tree. Bush, who was properly restrained, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ouachita Parish Coroner’s Office. A toxicology sample was obtained and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. In 2016, Troop F has investigated 31 fatal crashes resulting in 32 deaths.
