TROOP F NEWS RELEASE September 10, 2015 Unrestrained Woman Killed in Early Morning Crash Lake Providence, LA – A woman from Lake Providence died this morning after losing control of her vehicle and striking two parked 18-wheelers in East Carroll Parish. Shortly before 2:00 a.m., on September 10, 2015, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a single-vehicle fatal crash that occurred on Louisiana Highway 883-1 at the intersection of LA 134. This crash took the life of 43-year-old Tlesia Peeler of Lake Providence, LA. The preliminary investigation by State Police revealed Peeler was driving a 2000 Ford Expedition west on LA 883-1. For unknown reasons, Peeler lost control of her vehicle and ran off the right side of the roadway. After running off the road, Peeler’s vehicle traveled back across the roadway into a private lot and struck two parked 18-wheelers. Peeler, who was not restrained, was pronounced dead at the scene by the East Carroll Parish Coroner’s Office. A toxicology sample was obtained and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation. Louisiana law requires vehicle occupants to be restrained in all seating positions, day and night. Wearing a seat belt on every trip, whether it’s short or long, is the most effective thing motorists can do to protect themselves in the event of a crash. Motorists are encouraged to always make the smart choice by wearing their seat belt. In 2015, Troop F has investigated 36 fatal crashes resulting in 38 deaths.
