TROOP F NEWS RELEASE September 4, 2015 Man Killed in Late Afternoon ATV Crash Columbia, LA – A man from Columbia died late yesterday after the ATV he was driving was struck. Shortly before 6:20 p.m., on September 3, 2015, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred on Louisiana Highway 4 just west of Columbia, LA in Caldwell Parish. This crash took the life of 31-year-old Jeffery Rogers of Columbia, LA. The preliminary investigation by State Police revealed Rogers was driving a 2012 Can-Am Commander side by side ATV west in the east bound lane of LA 4. A 2007 Dodge Ram truck, driven by 44-year-old Nathan Ainsworth, was traveling east on LA 4 when his vehicle topped a hill and struck the ATV head-on. Rogers, who was not restrained, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene by the Caldwell Parish Coroner’s Office. Ainsworth was wearing his seat belt and was not injured during this crash. Toxicology samples were obtained and submitted for analysis. In 2015, Troop F has investigated 34 fatal crashes resulting in 36 deaths.
