TROOP F NEWS RELEASE October 28, 2015 Head-On Crash in West Monroe Leaves One Woman Dead Ouachita Parish –A West Monroe woman died last night after the vehicle she was driving crossed the centerline into the path of another vehicle. Shortly after 8:45 p.m. on October 27, 2015, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a two-vehicle crash that occurred on Louisiana Highway 34 just south of West Monroe. The initial investigation revealed a 2001 Toyota Corolla, driven by 32-year-old April Mizell of West Monroe was traveling east on LA 34 when, for unknown reasons, her vehicle crossed the centerline into the opposing lane of travel. The Corolla then collided head-on with a 2006 Mazda Tribute, driven by 19-year-old Aleisha Ebey of West Monroe. Mizell was transported to a local hospital where she later died. Ebey was also transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries. A toxicology sample was obtained and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. In 2015, Troop F has investigated 41 fatal crashes resulting in 45 deaths.
