TROOP F NEWS RELEASE February 16, 2016 Passenger Succumbs to Injuries after Two-Vehicle Crash in Morehouse Parish Bastrop, LA—A Monroe man died last night due to injuries he sustained in a head-on crash on February 14, 2016. Shortly before 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 14, 2016, Troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 139 approximately 4 miles south of the city of Bastrop. The initial investigation by State Police revealed 28-year-old Alex McQuillin of Bastrop, LA was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado north on LA 139. For unknown reasons, the vehicle traveled into the southbound lane of LA 139 and struck a 2015 Ford Van driven by 56-year-old Donald Sledge of Bastrop, LA. A passenger in the Van driven by Sledge, 24-year-old Larron Jackson of Monroe, was taken to a local hospital where he died last night due to his injuries. A toxicology sample was obtained and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. In 2016, Troop F has investigated 5 fatal crashes resulting in 5 deaths.
