TROOP F NEWS RELEASE July 15, 2016 Pedestrian Killed in Ouachita Parish Crash Monroe, LA—A Monroe man died last night after trying to cross the road at a busy intersection. Shortly after 9:00 p.m. on Thursday July 14, 2016, Troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a fatality crash on US Highway 165 at the intersection with Ticheli Rd. The initial investigation revealed 57-year-old Tharris Bishop of Monroe, LA was driving a 1998 Ford Expedition north on US 165 when the vehicle struck 53-year-old Matthew Davis of Monroe, LA who was trying to cross the northbound lanes. Davis was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ouachita Parish Coroner’s Office. Routine toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. In 2016, Troop F has investigated 23 fatal crashes resulting in 24 deaths.
